You can tell I’m traveling… When I can’t console game, I end up iPhone gaming!

I downloaded this app – iMob – for the iPhone and it’s coined as the first ever MMO game for the iPhone (so basically all handheld devices because let’s face it, there isn’t anything as cool as an iPhone… Sorry!)  The app basically allows you to register a character, choose a “class” and play against other people online.

My character’s name is… drum roll please… Rayanna and she’s a hustler.  That’s her class.  Don’t get any ideas… ;)   A hustler means that instead of regen’ing health faster or being tougher, she’s damn good at making money… I’m gonna find a way to exploit this app like I did The Sims Online (I’ll tell you that story later…)  Apparently if you download it now, you also get 30 extra points for their reputation system.

Okay, so the deal with this app is that you complete missions for money and experience, you fight other iMobbers for reputation, you can purchase weapons to increase strength and you can also purchase buildings and lots to earn an income.  It has all the similar qualities of an MMO except that it’s in a really compact form.

I like the style of play and it already has addictive qualities to it.  For example, you have to wait for time to elapse before you regen your energy (you need energy to complete missions, etc.) and you gain your income from your purchased buildings every 50-60 minutes.  Your health decreases as you play… especially if you have people fighting you!  I had one dude fight me to the point that I had to go to the emergency room… LAME!

I have to give this one some srs nods because I really do think it brings the qualities of an MMO to the smaller screen.  The coolest part is that it’s portable and FREE!  You can purchase reputation to use with “The Don” to get things like a henchman and $20K at a time but otherwise, all of the options are available to you at no cost.

Look me up as Rayanna on there – would love to see you fight me to the death!

  • Review: Tap Tap Revenge 2 for the iPhone

YAY!  Finally an app that I can see myself getting srsly addicted to!  I love my iPhone… Almost more than I love sushi, coffee and chocolate.  But, I haven’t found that many gaming apps that I really loved.  In fact, the ones I had downloaded thus far were either boring or felt too juvenile.

Enter Tap Tap Revenge 2.  While the name sounds slightly reminiscent of Dance Dance Revolution, it’s totally not!  This is like Guitar Hero on mini mode and you get more control cause you can use a two fingers instead of five.

Basically, once you download and install the app, you load it up and choose your level.  The cool thing is that you can play online versus other Tap Tap Revengers or you can play a single player game for yourself.  You can also post your high scores online and compare it to other people… Or, simply save your own high scores to challenge your skill level over and over again.

Another wicked point worth mentioning is that you can download new songs online.  I tried this app out while on an airplane to California so I haven’t downloaded any new songs yet but the two you get by default are catchy.  They have a good beat and I found myself ignoring the flight attendants when they brought by snacks (which I never do!) to keep my eyes on the iPhone.

Best thing of all… This app is free!

The makers of this app should be proud.  It seems that they are infusing indie music with a wicked app built from a super popular (and totally addicting!) console game.  Kudos to you for that!

If you end up on this app and you want to challenge me, lemme know!
