Wish I Would’ve Spoke Up Sooner!

This is just a light-hearted funny story.When I was a young girl, my sister and I spent all of our free time either playing Barbie dolls or gaming on the Atari and the Commodore 64 (affectionately known as the C64). We also had a huge interest in paper dolls. We would spend hours drawing our own paper dolls, drawing houses and spreading it all out on the floor to play with these self-made creations.
I remember playing Spy vs. Spy one time and if you all remember that game, it was a pretty well done 2-player game for the C64. We would play it all the time and because it was based in a house with rooms and pretty decorations, it got our minds wandering.
I remember clearly one day, talking to my sister about a game I wish existed… In this game, you’d be able to create people and make houses and go and buy groceries. You’d be able to act out a simulated paper doll and a paper doll house without all the work of actually drawing them yourselves. Everything would be highly customizable and you’d be able to control these people to do whatever you wanted with them.
Fast forward a few years (okay – ten!) and out comes the Sims. My sister and I freaked. We were srsly addicted to this game forever and we could not believe the very game we dreamed of had become a reality. The progression of the Sims games has been amazing to watch. It’s been surreal to see the very thing we dreamed of come to life but I’ve also appreciated it more than EA Games / Maxis will know.
The thing I can’t wait for is to see more of my gaming dreams come to life… What am I praying for next? I have no idea but when I do think of something, I’ll be sure to document it on the blog for real proof that these crazy thoughts of mine can actually turn into real games.
